Consumer Behavior (Duration - 2 Hours)

Analysis of consumer behavior in purchasing goods and services: decision making in purchasing; comparing prices and quality, motivating factors; consumer values, smart consumer; consumer rights and responsibilities; deceptive techniques in the marketplace; credit, cash and installment implications

Consumer Protection Laws (Duration - 2 Hours)

Exposition to main consumer protection laws; concept of consumer protection; Important consumer legislation; Consumer Protection Act 1999; deceptive and unfair conduct; safety of goods and services; guarantees; National Consumer Advisory Council.

Consumer Claims Tribunal (Duration - 2 Hours)

Understanding the functioning of the Tribunal: background to tribunal; types of claims that can be filed; procedures in filing claims; methods of forwarding claim to respondent; preparation for hearing. Follow-up to award.

Consumer Finance (Duration - 2 Hours)

Exposition to managing home finances: identifying resources, characterestics and apportionment of resources; procedures in managing finances; preparing income statement; the pros and cons of credit; savings and investment.

Consumer Economics (Duration - 2 Hours)

Exposition to economic issues which consumers need to understand: inflation; unemployment; economic recession; cost of living and consumer welfare; rise in the price of goods and services; overcoming economic hardship; changing lifestyles.

Sustainable Consumption (Duration - 2 Hours)

Exposition to sustainable consumption and environmental issues: definition of sustainable consumption; greenhouse effect; global warming and effects on consumers; degradation of environment; green consumer; carbon footprint; sustainable development; role of consumers.

Notes: In lecture mode each module comprises a lecture slot of 2 hours. In comprehensive interactive training mode each module represents a ½ day training. All 6 modules will require 3 days of training. In lecture mode, clients may choose any 1 module for a 2 hour lecture presentation or choose a maximum of any 2 modules for a  1/2 day training, 3 modules for a 1 day training and all 6 modules for  2 days of training. This is a general consumer training course suitable for all groups. Training will be tailored to the needs of each group.
